Blond

I caught sight of myself in the train window this morning while it pulled in and thought ‘hmm, I wonder if I should go blond’. I’m not talking bleached blond here, just a couple of shades lighter so I end up looking something like blokey from Apocalyptica (guy on the left). Anyway, I mulled it over and thought what the hell, why not. So I got out my card for Toni and Guy and was just about to call them when I saw how much it’s going to cost. What with a haircut and all we’re looking well over a ton, possibly a ton fifty and given my current state of poorness* and the need to pay for camera repairs I think I’ll wait until I’m less poor. Of course, feel free to tell my what a wonderfully good/bad idea it is in the mean time.

*poorness is a relative term. Poor for me is when I worry about spending over £100 on something. That said, I am owed some £700 from various places which would help pay for it. Must get onto the electric people and ask them if they can’t give me the £250 I’m in credit (after only a year!). Someone remind me tomorrow. Oh, and if anyone reads this tonight remind me I need to take in some more teabags into work. Text or comment will work (I’ll get an email from a comment and I check email when I wake up).

Righting Wrongs

Will the idiot 99% of the population* please try and force their way into my flat armed with keys and threatening to gouge my eyes out. According to this I then have legitimate recourse to ‘defend my home’ with extreme prejudice :D With just a few tens of million deft flicks with a sharp implement the country will be a better place. Bwahahahahahaha!

*You know who you are.

Caption Competition

Right, theme for Sedition next month is “Fantasies and Fables”. As per previous months I’m getting a tshirt printed specially. So we’re going for:

“There is no happily ever after” [front]
“See?” [back]

However, I am opening up the floor to suggestions. Let’s hear your ideas and, if I like it, your text could be going to sedition on a shiny new tshirt :-)

somewhere random

I’ve relaunched somewhere random as a place to show all my photographs. notes from… is now a photography blog, images from… a gallery of my photos and somewhererandom.com a portal to the two. I’ll be adding photographs at quite a pace for the first few weeks as I’ve got a fair few old ones to upload, after that I’d just add it to your RSS reader as updates will really depend on how often I get my camera out and take good photographs (could be a while as the camera done quench at the moment).

As promised pictures from my recent holiday can be found in the cromer zoo section and in this blog post.

Enjoy :D

Curry

Quite often as I walk [not stagger, since I don't drink] back from the pub I wonder if I could pop into one of the plethora of fast food establishments on my route home, order some food for delivery and then catch a lift with the food. After all, it’s cheaper than a taxi and it saves my food getting cold walking it home. Apparently [according to Des] you can’t which may or may not be because of insurance or the fact that Des was mightily pissed at the times of asking.

This conversation also left me with a hankering for a curry, and a proper one too, not one out of a jar. This is where living by yourself becomes a bit of an issue. In general having food delivered requires the purchasing of enough food for 2 people, or one lard arse. Since I am trying not to be a lard arse I tend to balk at the amount of food I’d need to order and decide on something else. Not today though. Today the desire for curry is such that I retrieved the [as yet unused] curry menus from the glory draw [place where you chuck all the crap] and began the selection process.

I appreciate not all of you will understand the fine art of curry house selection so let me explain: First of all we need to be sure they deliver. One didn’t so they were out. Then we consider what the delivery area is and are they near me (if they’re not they’ll never find the place), so another one dropped. Next, how much do I need to order before they’ll deliver, all £12.50 - £15.00 so we didn’t discount any straight away. Now, do they do the food I want?

At the end of that process we were left with 4 menus. One was discarded instantly for a poorly placed staple that was annoying me. Down to 3. So we pick the shiniest looking one and order. Of course, they can’t find me, but at least they’ve had the good grace to call back and say so, so I’ve told them how to get close to my place and that they should call and I’ll meet the driver outside. Should the food prove to be cromulent all the other menus will be discarded and this one kept. Should it prove to be crap this menu will be discarded and a new one tried next time I hanker for curry.

Teh Intarwebnetz

The internet is a great thing. There was a song played on Friday which I quite like but don’t know what it’s called. I do know its got a stomping beat (so it’s going to be EBM) and has dalek type vocals in bits. So I Googled for ‘ebm sounds like daleks‘, the first result, right at the bottom of the page suggested Rotersand, Exterminate, Annihilate, Destroy so I went to the iTunes Music Store, searched for the same, discovered it was the tune I was after and bought the EP which was then downloaded onto my computer. Marvelous :D

You can hear a clip of it from the bands website. Incidently Cat, and anyone else who fancies coming next week, there is a good chance this will get played at Sedition :)

She said…

…well, she said “I’m busy until April”. On the plus side the question was “Are you free tomorrow or Monday?”, there was actually an explanation of why she was busy and April is only a few days away. So I’ll ask again in a few weeks and possibly get to take Cute Bartender for a drink or a meal or something… or get crushed. One or the other :D

Sedition

Right. My friends are bloody useless so were going back to how we used to operate at university. I shall be at Sedition on the second Friday of every month (assuming the regular night remains as good and it wasn’t just a one off good night with the Full Tilt reunion). You lot are welcome to join me but I shall notbe organising anything formal beyond ‘are we going to the pub first or shall I meet you in the club.’
