The outpourings of a deranged mind

Teh Intarwebnetz

The internet is a great thing. There was a song played on Friday which I quite like but don’t know what it’s called. I do know its got a stomping beat (so it’s going to be EBM) and has dalek type vocals in bits. So I Googled for ‘ebm sounds like daleks‘, the first result, right at the bottom of the page suggested Rotersand, Exterminate, Annihilate, Destroy so I went to the iTunes Music Store, searched for the same, discovered it was the tune I was after and bought the EP which was then downloaded onto my computer. Marvelous :D

You can hear a clip of it from the bands website. Incidently Cat, and anyone else who fancies coming next week, there is a good chance this will get played at Sedition :)

Ug

just ug.

Anyway, I was right [about a great many things], those of you who had the audacity to disagree with me were wrong :-)

And yes, I could be more vague. Deal with it :-P

Getting old

I’ve never used my bath in my new place. Baths are just something I don’t do, I prefer showers, but I’m so stiff from bouncing around on Sunday night that I might soak in some hot water later today and see if that helps my back and knees. I’m not as young as I used to be :(

Club Noir

Easter Sunday isn’t exactly your typical clubbing night, in fact, if it hadn’t been for the flyer being thrust into my hands a few weeks ago I wouldn’t have even thought anything was happening. As a result the turnout for Sunday was quite small with the club only really being a quarter to a third as full as it gets on a typical Friday night. Bad for the organisers, but it did mean the dance floor wasn’t ram packed which was good[ish] for me.

Musically the night wasn’t bad. The DJ’s quickly cycled through the various genres to make sure the dance floor was full [note to the Electric Ballroom: one crappy NiN track does not an industrial set make. That's the second time you've done that :P ] and I spent a large proportion of the night on the floor bouncing round like a loon.  It didn’t help that there was an exceptionally cute French [I think] girl that I spent most of the night dancing with as he was bouncing around more than I was which resulted in me trying to show off and leaping about more than I usually would. Result is my knees now hurt and I’m still all over. Still, I got a hug from her and from another girl who got some glowsticks off me (I actually got kisses [on the cheeks] as a thank you as I furnished her friends with glowsticks too :D )

The night ended an hour early (mainly as there were only 50 or so people left in the club by 3am) but I had a laugh and I spent another hour or so talking to the people I’d given to glowsticks too outside Camden station before I buggered off to the hostel for a few hours lying in a short bed :D

Two week break from clubbing now until I head to Rios in Leeds to go to The Darkside with my brother (poor sod doesn’t know what he’s letting himself in for :D ).

The Hostel

OK, so I’ve now done a night in a hostel. As a place to crash for very little cash there is nothing wrong with it, it was clean, dry, nearly comfortable and warmish (someone left the window open so it was a little cooler than I would have liked). As somewhere to actually get anything vaguely like a good nights sleep it’s crap. For starters you’ve got people like me coming and going at all hours of the night (in my defense I took my shoes off outside the room, didn’t turn the light on and just got straight into bed so hopefully I didn’t wake the two others in the room up), the beds creak every time you move and every time someone went to the toilet I was woken up. It also didn’t help that I somehow turned on my early morning alarm for leaving the house (06:38 and not a subtle alarm sound) so that woke me up as well. Oh, and I missed breakfast :) Still, it was WAY nicer than the crappy hotel I had last time I went out.

I picked the bottom bunk as it would be easter to get into at 4:30am without waking people up, although it was a little short for me :)

God knows how people cope with staying there for a holiday, but I’d be willing to stay there again if there was a club night I wanted to go to.

:D

Methinks it’s going to be a good night. Let’s just hope this Goth set doesn’t last all night :-)

Hostel

So, this is how the other half live is it? I’m currently in a tiny room with 2 bunk beds (one occupied, by a girl I think. Poor sod). The toilet is right next door and my head us some 2 feet from all the action. Joy. Still, for all its smallness its much nicer than the place I had last week and at the same cost (normally it’s cheaper here but this being a bank holiday weekend the prices shoot up to just over £25 including breakfast). As a space to crash it’ll do nicely… now, where is the room service menu?

Sad old git

I really do have it bad for my cute bartender. Today I gave her a small tube of mini eggs as an easter gift (not sure if I’m going to that pub tomorrow and I don’t think she’s working Sunday) and then proceeded to sit at the table with my mates and look all doe eyed (apparently) every time she came into view. And before you lot start telling me I should ask her out there is the small problem she may say no… or she may say yes… and I’m not entirely sure which one scares me the most.

Anyway, we did tonight completely arse about face going to the cocktail place first (where I got to drink expensive lemonades in small glasses with lots of ice), then kebab (which wiped everyone out as I insited we ate in and the kebabs were rather large) then the pub. Then we decamped to another pub as we were told our nurse friend was out with a lot of young student nurses, which turned out to be an untruth (or if they were out they weren’t in the pub we were told) so we just gave up and went home. It’s a far cry from the ‘out clubbing until god knows when’ that it was supposed to be. I’m off to bed :)

Slummimg It

The hotel room I had on Friday for the nights clubbing was… well… pants. £25 per person per night in central London tells you all you need to know really :) To top things off I had to wait for 15 minutes to be let in (the guy manning the desk was upstairs sorting out a problem with one of the rooms), 10 minutes to check in (it wasn’t him to let me in so I had to wait for him to come down) and they didn’t have the room I ordered. Instead I got a 5 bed room which, given everyone else had dropped out, was just a bit silly with a bathroom that was shared with another room (turns out the ‘private’ bathrooms are ‘private’ to a couple of rooms rather than being open to the floor which is nice). The shower was so bad that I couldn’t use it, the toilet seat was broken and the rooms were heated to about 60 degrees C.  OK, so I had a TV to watch (a teeny tiny thing with an aerial and a signal that would drop in and out depending where the people upstairs stood) and it allowed me to kill the time between arriving and leaving for the club.

I was also treated to a further 15 minutes stood outside when I got back after the club. The guy on the desk was clearly sleeping because, after much ringing of the bell and banging on the door) I managed to get hold of the phone number and rang the hotel. He suddenly came out of the day room looking like someone who’s just woken up. Since he didn’t know I was only supposed to be a party of 3 (you pay in advance so they don’t care once that’s sorted) and that no one else had checked in with me I claimed that everyone else had got bored waiting for him to answer the door and gone home. I packed my bag, demanded to check out there and then and stormed out in true ‘disgruntled customer’ fashion. Not that they care.

Anyway, hostel on Sunday (so we’ll be able to compare that to cheap hotel :) ) and then I’ll just be going to clubs that are open until stupid o’clock in the morning so I can just catch a train home.

For your delight and delectation I have provided photos of the room, photos of the clothes I was going to wear (including my new glow in the dark ‘meh’ tshirt), and photos of my clubbing toys obeying the laws of straight (I was bored, OK. I had three hours to kill and gardeners world in fuzzovision just doesn’t cut it). Enjoy  :)
