Shower Curtains
It staggers me how often they have to change the shower curtains at the gym. On Monday I got into the shower, pulled the shower curtain closed only to find I needn’t have bothered due to a huge slash through it. Today all the shower curtains have been replaced with shiny new ones. I give them 2 months before they’re broken, half pulled off the hooks and generally in need of replacing again. Must cost them a fortune.

Why do shower curtains always go orange at the bottom?
Well I’ve noticed that my shower goes orange in the corners. I’m guessing that the orange is some kind of limescale/gunge and it collects at the bottom of the shower curtain as the water drips down to there.
My shower in Ipswich used to do this (my one in London does too, but less so).
Could it be something in the water (perhaps iron)??
I’d be pretty confident that it’s not coming from the internal/external pipework as most of that is likely to be plastic anyway!
Do we know anyone who works in a lab that can run tests on it?
Right, a quick Google tells us that it’s biofilm; many different microorganisms and bacteria held together by biological polymers that allow it to adhere to the wet surfaces where it thrived on the mineral deposits found in the water. So there you go.
Sounds like marketing speak to me.. Could you harvest it and sell it as an expensive cosmetic?
Yes, we could call it bullshitium and add it to boswellox in face creams
