The outpourings of a deranged mind

Babies :)

One or both of my two chickens has had chicks :) Not sure how many yet (I don’t look after them, they’re living on a farm in deepest, darkest countryside) but one of them is being called Jess for obvious reasons for those who know me :D My two are the black two, so I’m guessing the black chicks are their offspring.

So how long before roast/fricassee/stewed/sauted Jess is on the menu at your Michelin starred establishment?

It would seem that there is some dispute over the ownership of Jess and her siblings. Apparently, since I am paying for chicken upkeep in eggs and the chicks came from eggs ownership goes to their caretaker. I have a meeting with him today to discuss the situation further.

From what I understand, egg laying chickens do not good eating make. Thus roast Jess is probably not going to be on the menu.

Ownership issue resolved. As to eating, these are Bantams so not great eating. However any which turn out to be male will die, and eating them seems to be the most reasonable thing to do after they are dead…. so it is technically possible that Dom’s establishment will be advertising spatchcocked chicken….

Speak to Jason. He has some spare chicks, I’m sure you two can come to some arrangement. I warn you though, check the fine print :-)
