The outpourings of a deranged mind

Random questions from the pub.

So, can a woman who has just started dating someone (not me) teach ‘her man’, as she calls him, to satisfy her? And yes, I am only posting this for a dare :-)

Back!

So I’m back from my sojourn to Cromer Sur Mer and am enjoying my last day of holiday from bed. I really need to get up and sort out posting the photographs I took but before that I want breakfast, and in order to have breakfast I need bread and milk, and to get bread and milk involves getting up, getting dressed, going to the shop and buying some and I really, really cannot be arsed. I think hunger is going to win out over my lack of arsedness though. I also need to sort something for lunch. Meh.

bizzare

So the upshot of the dream I had last night is that the block of flats I live in collapsed due to me overfilling the bath (thankfully I’d gone outside), my iPhone then got hacked and malware installed on it meaning I couldn’t use it until it had been restored (from my laptop which was under a couple of hundred ton of rubble), my insurance company wouldn’t pay out for anything as I didnt have reciepts (rubble again) so I went home (yes, I know, continuity error) to discover it was actually the block of flats next to me that had collapsed. Yeah. I thought so too :-)

Feck

The shutter mechanism on my hideously expensive camera has started making horrible grinding noises and my camera has (probably very wisely) ceased working. Bit of an arse half way into a photography holiday. My spare [camera] body is hideously old and in Colchester so I’m going to have to downgrade this tons plain old holiday. Pain in the arse really as there are 4 more lots of beasties I wanted to photograph, plus it’s going to put my camera out of action for a couple of weeks and cost me a couple of hundred quid to get the shutter mechanism replaced.

Still, when you consider the load that gets placed on the shutter it’s hardly surprising they only last for a couple of hundred thousand actuations.

Aguti

So while [most of] you are all at work I’m sat in a pen photographing a pair of aguti (basically big ginnea pigs). Later today im going to play with the monkeys again. I claim an aguti pen is the most random place blogged from today :-)

Holiday

So I’m on holiday most of this week with my step Dad at the zoo he is building (yeah, I know, bit good, isn’t it :-) ). Anyway there are loads of stunning photos but I can’t post any until the end of the week. Blog output may be down too as my only link to the outside world is the iPhone and it can be a bit painful using it to write longer posts.

God Complex

So people often say to me, “Dom“, for ’tis my name, “Dom, what is this God Complex you speak of?” and I tell them, “Simple, I believe the universe, the world and everything in it were made specifically to be my play things“.

Don’t you think this is a little arrogant?“, they say.

Yes, however, I fail to see the problem“, I retort.

So“, they say, because people are always so eager to try and point out the flaws in any plan, “if the world was made as your play thing why is there so much pain and suffering?

Always with the pain and suffering, the question gets to be dull. “I’m not a very nice person?“, which usually shocks them, “besides, I’ve got enough problems without worrying about everyone else“.

Aha!“, they say, not letting it go, “surely if the world was made as your play thing then you wouldn’t have problems“.

Not at all“, I explain, “Just like playing chess against someone you’ll always beat. There is no challenge, there is no fun. For there to be fun there must be challenge, for there to be challenge there must be problems.

So you created pain and suffering in the world for a challenge?

No, because I didn’t create the world, it was simply created for me.

So we all just popped into existence when the world was created?“, they asked believing, somehow, that I have all the answers and I’m going to just hand them over.

I have no idea, do you know how an arcade game works? Of course not, but that doesn’t stop you playing and having fun.

But it still means we’re all just characters in your game.

Yes, which also goes to explain why people, in general, are such idiots. To give everyone proper intelligence would be computationally expensive, much better to simply deal with the people close to me that I interact with and have everyone else follow some basic patterns“. It’s good to be consistent with your world view.

How do you know you’re not just a character in someone else’s creation?

Aha, that is where the God Complex comes in, the firm belief that this is all for me is unshakable.

So you think you are better than everyone else?“, they ask in an incredulous voice.

Of course I do“, I reply, not adding the qualifying: except when I don’t. That simply creates too many questions.

OK, so I also believe the world was made purely to be my play thing. We can’t both be right can we“, they say, trying to pick more holes in the idea.

I guess we could both be right, and the world could have been created for you too, sort of multi-player“, I conceed.

But surely if you just follow the logic through you could say the world was made for everyone and you’re not special at all, you’re just an arrogant git“, the say, going for the kill.

It’s generally at this point that I get bored of the entire conversation and smite them with a bolt of lightning. True story :D

Wilting

Bugger, just missed the 05:30, so now waiting for the 06:00 stopping bloody everywhere. At least I’ve been able to hunt down some tea. Real, honest to God tea with caffine and other crap that’s seriously bad for me. Should be in bed for 7:30, although I may shower first, God knows I need it. Oh, and in 7 minutes I will have been awake for 24 hours. I’m either a hero or desperately sad. Probably the latter. Must also remember to get some mince out of the freezer. The all sugar diet I’ve been on for the past 9 hours to keep me going means I’m going to be starving when I eventually wake up. I’m rambling, I know. Deal with it. It’s keeping me awake.

Sedition: Blade Runner

Where the bloody hell was everyone?Once again an absolutely storming night at Sedition (Mass, Brixton. No links as I’m a bus home and doing this on my iPhone. Google for it), but we were about 100 people short in the room I was in, and I’m guessing the metal room was the same. All you people landing here after googling for EBM, Darkwave, Industrial, Cyber, etc . get your shit together and organise to be there next month. It’s open till 5 so you don’t even need accomadation, you can just get first tubes/trains home (if I can make it from and too Colchester then you can make it too, and I’m an old git).

Anyhoos, lots of very attractive (and also not very single or very desperate) girls which was nice. I even summoned up the courage to speak to one. She was German and, good though her English was, a conversation in a nightclub was never going to happen.

This months bands were all rather good (way better than Sheep On Drugs, although lacking in comedic value) and we had semi naked dancers with snakes and a person on a trapeese being rather athletic for the crowd.

Music wise there was a good mix with a couple of my favorite tunes played. Top tip for the DJ’s. More Grendel! Specifically Harsh Generation and Hate This. Thanks :-)

I’m now in need of a shower and need to locate a train. Remember, come to Sedition, listen to Grendel :-D

Early

Something tells me I got here just a tiny bit early. Do hope some more people turn up but it ’s still early. There are some very tasty girls here and I think one of them is a DJ :-) Watch as I now spend the next 6 hours failing to talk to them :-)

Aha, lights have gone off. Let the fun commence.
