The outpourings of a deranged mind

Debagged

So this Saturday we were blessed with a young boy (early 20’s if that) swaying by the bar with his trousers fashionably hanging round his arse… except he was now too pissed to keep them up… and they fell down, in the middle of the pub. I’ve never understood this thing of having your trousers nearly falling down all the time, especially given the ever present danger of them falling down. If anyone could explain why you do this I’d love to know (and yes, I’ve heard the theories, I want a yoof who actually does it to explain it).

I don’t wear them like that (because I’m a girl) but I think it’s just a style. Stupid style though. I don’t know how it’s attractive…in any way!

Actually, I’ve noticed that some girls have started doing it too and its even less attractive on them :(

Two things I dont understand about that

    1. Baggy trousers was in AGES ago? Why is it STILL in fashion?

    2. Doesn’t it make their getaway from the police harder? :D:D sorry. My bad.

    That’s hilarious!!

ms20, they don’t need to get away from the police because “I know my rights, innit, you didn’t see no nuffink, you can’t prove anything”, coupled with irate mother demanding to know what their little angel (who has prior for assult, TWOCing, robbery, carrying an offensive weapon, etc., etc.) could possibly have done wrong and can’t you see he wouldn’t hurt a fly. Shoot the lot of them I say :)

Is it a rebellion thing? You know, trying to be as opposite as possible to Simon Cowell. I could understand that but it’s a bit of a sorry statement to make.

Maybe it’s a way to display arse-antlers better. No, that can’t be it.

Are belts really expensive these days?

Oh, I clearly have no idea. If I see any young people I’ll ask them. If it’s safe to.

Itcame out of the US - (why not)

“The fashion comes from the US prison system, where inmates have their belts taken away for security reasons.”

    However:
In US prisons they wear elastic waistbands now–but apparently the low-slung trousers continue as a trend in prison fashion that indicates that the wearer’s ass is for sale for such items of barter as drugs, protection, cigarettes, etc. Or it could mean that the individual is somebody else’s bitch–but it’s more likely that a leash indicates that in particular.

….so the wanna be Chav may be trying to indicate he is ‘ard however what he is telling half of Colchester is that his ass is available…

(a fact I find quietly amusing - girlBa)

Yes, I’m aware of the theory (that is one of 3 if I remember correctly), but why?

  9. Bathgirl April 22nd, 2008 1:27 pm

Since I can claim a guy I knew at Uni who IS actually incarcerated at the US Government’s ‘pleasure’ am I allowed to point out not so much of a theory… (or apparently not in Federal prison anyway)

How it got out of prison and into ‘mainstream’ culture was the gang members did it when they came out of jail, this was picked up by the Gangsta rappers of the mid to late 90’s and then just made it into mainstream culture - where for reasons I have never understood it hasn’t gone away.

Surely it’s because it looks cool and sperates the youth who still have buttocks worth seeing from those of us who have passed the tender age of 24, 25 when your muscles give up, wave a little white flag (etc).

Or maybe they’re just stupid? Many of these people get to vote you know, still have that same bunch of clowns in Westminster is it?

There’s actually a city down south, I think Mississippi maybe, that has banned youth wearing baggy pants. It needs to be a national law…or perhaps international!

Oh, they don’t need to be banned since it’s brutally amusing to watch kids hoisting their trousers up every two minutes with the ocassional mishap :-)
