The outpourings of a deranged mind

Random Fact #4

It’s absolutely bloody freezing this morning. It’s getting to the stage where I am going to have to start thinking about turning the heating on… which is going to involve working out how the heating actually works.

These days you’re probably better off asking a child to do it. Mine involves 1. Setting the day of the week. 2. Deciding when you want the heating to come on. 3. Setting the start and finish time for the (a) morning (b) middle of day and (c) eveing heating. This to be done for every day separately so that at weekends it can come on in the middle of day when it gets cold and you want to be warm whilst vegging in front of the TV. 4. Thinking about when you want the hot water on. 5. Setting the hot water for (a) morning (b) middle of day and (c) evening. Each day to be set separately. 6. Remembering that when you go on holiday (or to the seaside house) that you remember to put the heating on “holiday” to save pennies and the environment. 7. Remembering to alter the clock for the heating/water when the clocks change.

All this must be done on an LCD display located underneath the wall units in the most poorly lit part of the kitchen, with buttons the size of pin heads.

As you can see you need a small person to do such technical stuff - its far beyond adult comphrehension. Chopping firewood is infinitely easier and more satisfying.

Thankfully the hot water is seperate and just sorts itself out. The LCD pannel is behind a whole load of boxes and I think there is some fiddling to be done with the individual heating pannels in each room. I miss gas central heating.
