Not So Rock City
Ah, Nottingham Rock City, that last bastion of excellent [assuming you like your music loud and guitar based] music. At least, that’s what the name would imply. Turns out it’s really known as Nottingham Rock City Except On Fridays Where We Play Cheesy 80’s And 90’s Crap. Including the Spice Girls if the posters were anything to go by. The Spice Girls! It’s enough to make a grown man want to cry. By the looks of the clientele queuing up for the night it also looked like it was going to be a rather Chavtastic night too so we decided to pass and head to the pub. Turns out, if you ever find yourself in a situation where Rock City doesn’t, well, rock, that there is a nice pub just round the corner with a good jukebox, cute bar staff and many people who appreciate loud and obnoxious music. Rock City it might not be, but it certainly wasn’t going to inflict the Spice Girls on us.
but you look to me like the sort of person who appreciates the Spice Girls .. their music is fabtastic (NOT!!!!)
Ooooh! Do they also play Bananarama and the Nolans? What about Bucks Fizz? ….. and Dollar? Sounds to me as though you might have been about 20 years older than the average punter.

By the looks of the queue I was about 20 years older than the average punter. Not a pretty sight. I am unaware of the complete playlist choosing, as I did, to retire to a pub round the corner that was playing good music. We’ll be trying again on Saturday the 22nd. Sounds like you might like Chicago’s here in Colchester though. It plays that kind of rubbish
