Shirt watch: Light Purple
Old shirt, and one of my favorites. This one is a smart shirt bought for use with suits so requires cuff links (some rather splendid half ones made from real 1/2p coins). Don’t I just look so awkward in the photo?
The view out of my window
Looks like I am going to have the view out of my window blocked a fair bit. They’ve laid what looks to be the base for the new flats their building. Should still have a reasonable view and hopefully wont be too overlooked. Quite interesting watching the site change though.
2 commentsNo interwebnet
I’m tired and crosspatch this morning. As predicted I didn’t get to sleep until 11 so rather than waking refreshed and full on energy (who am I kidding, I never wake up refreshed and full of energy
) I was brutally stunning into being awake by my alarm some 6 short hours after crashing out. Of course you won’t find this out until this afternoon (unless I manage to quickly post this [or postly quick this as I initially typed - gotta love lysdexia] on the train as it pulls into the station) because I no longer have unfettered interwebnet access from my desk. I can sporadically see a BTOpenzone hotspot but it’s not stable enough to use and I can, tantalisingly, see the Corney and Barrow free wifi hotspot on iStumbler but can’t connect to it. In completely unrelated news there was a marked improvement in my productivity yesterday
That said I can still see all your blogs (yes, I have lurkers and I know who they are, isn’t it great, I feel all special
) and I don’t view commenting as blogging (hell, if they fire me for that then they were out to get me) so I can still make a nuisance of myself.
(In the end I did log in as the train pulled into the station, wanted to check my email
)
I got a message :)
The new site is paying dividends already and I have just entered into an email conversation with a girl. Actually, let me qualify that, I sent notice that I was interested, she sent back her photos, said she liked the look of my profile and would like it if I wrote back, I wrote back, also releasing my photos and now may, or may not have scared her off. We’ll see
Way past my bedtime now but I suspect I’ll be up until 11 just on the off chance I get a reply tonight (God I am sad
).
New site
Given I’m getting precisely nowhere fast with match.com I’ve joined another online dating site that does psychometric profiling and doesn’t release photos initially, which seems like a fantastic idea if you ask me. Kicked off a couple of icebreaker requests and we shall see what we shall see.
No commentsShirt watch: Light Blue
Prefer my dark blue one, but I’ve had that for a while, so I decided to try the light blue one. Here endeth the parade of shirts I bought recently, from here on in its old shirts or ones bought this week (yup, off to buy more
).
Oh - do we think the photo is any good? I’m toying with the idea of putting it up ont the dating sites as I think its not too bad.

Its important that you enjoy a freash and well balaced in order to remain healthy. And I thought my spelling was bad
Sensorship gone mad
So I’m noodling about on the interwebnet waiting to find out what time I’m going out to do stuff and I’ve got Kerrang! on in the background and it would appear they’ve been doing a tiny bit of censorship on the music videos. While I can understand the censorship of The Blood Hound Gang’s Ballad Of Chasey Elaine (you can’t realy say ‘Now show ‘em those titties’ on TV at 11:00 am on a Sunday) it would seem they’ve also censored Gay Bar by Electric Six. The offending lyrics? ‘War’ and ‘Nuclear War’. The chorus now goes: Lets start a …, a … …! They’ve yet to sensor the wanky bits out of Geen Days video for Wake Me Up When September Ends which ruins an otherwise OK song and does rather make them look like they’ve disappeared up their own backsides.
No commentsMore crashing and burning
Well, its been a week and no response from the two email I sent out on match.com. I’m going to guess they’re not interested. That, coupled with a ‘Thanks but no thanks’ I got from a wink I sent puts me at 4 for 0.
Anyway, I’ve gone through and set up a whole load of searches for the local area around the stations on my line (well, so far from Colchester to Chelmsford, still need to do the stations on the metro services from Shenfield to Stratford but after a few hundred profiles I was going a bit cross eyed). I’ve also removed all the unsuitable matches. Hopefully this should make future searches easier as I’ll just need to look at the new profiles since I last looked. New emails have been sent and people winked, so all that remains to do is wait and see if they garner any responses.
4 commentsNew Desk
When I go back into work tomorrow I will be at a new desk. This will be the 4th desk move in just over a year, hopefully it will be the last for a while. I liked my old desk, it was in a quiet part of the building (mainly because most of the floor was a ruddy great big server room which requires special permission from God himself to even get near) which made it feel more like working for a small company while retaining the benefits of being a faceless drone in a large multinational.
The desk also allowed my to access The Cloud which gave me unfettered high speed interwebnet access without having to worry about work snooping, blocking or otherwise hindering my online activities. Its unlikely the new desk will have this which can only be a bad thing. No more MSN during school hours
. That said, it was unlikely I was going to be able to continue doing that anyway. Everyone else in the team has started brining their laptops into work and, unlike me, they only use them for personal stuff so (rather understandably) the boss is not happy about anyone using personal laptops at work and will probably end up banning them (boo hiss).
Hey well, it looks like I’ll have to go back to writing blogs on the train and then not posting them until I get home, or just ignoring the no blogging rule and posting from work.
